✿ Stitches & Abbreviation

Ch: Chain

St(s): Stitches

Sc: Single crochet

Dc: Double crochet

Dec: Decrease

Sl st: Slip stitch

✿ Ribbon sleeve ✿

Round 1: Chain the width of your object. This is completely up to you and when chaining I would recommend that you chain as similar as your object width. This is so that your object will fit perfectly in the sleeve.

Round 2: Start in the 2nd ch and insert 1 sc. Then, insert 1sc in the next st and you will use your st marker and mark this stitch. Please don’t skip this, this will be really important throughout this pattern. Next, just continue inserting 1sc in each st until you reach the last st. Before you make any sc in the last st, mark the st that you just did. The st that you have to mark is the 2nd last st.

In the last st, insert 3 sc in the same st.

Then, continue on the other side and insert 1sc (mark this st). Continue inserting 1 sc until you reach the last st. Mark the st before you insert anything in the last st. In the last st, insert 2 sc in the same st. Sl st into the first sc of this round.

Round 3:

Important!! : Mark every dc where you chain and make a sl st into it / make sure the 4 stitches that you marked will always have a stitch marker even after inserting a new stitch inside. The is because the marked stitch will be the place where you have to make the chains (this will be the v shape on the sleeve).

Ch 2, and turn your work. Make with 2 dc (make sure not to insert any dc in the sl st that you did on Round 2), 1 dc in the st marker and chain (this depends on your yarn and hook size. For a smaller yarn I would recommend that you ch 10+. For bigger yarn ch 8-. You can experiment and see how many chains look better. The chain is the v shape that we’ll insert ribbon at the end). Then, sl st into the same dc below it. Next, continue inserting 1 dc in each st until you reach the next st marker.

In the 2nd st marker, insert 1 dc and ch the same number that you did before and sl st into the same dc. Make 3 dc. In the 3rd st marker, insert 1 dc and ch the same number that you did before and sl st into the same dc. Then, continue inserting 1 dc in each st until you reach the 4th st marker.

In the 4th st marker, insert 1 dc and ch the same number that you did before and sl st into the same dc. Make 2 dc.

Sl st into the first dc.

Round 4: Ch 1 and turn your work. Insert 1 sc in the same st. Then, continue inserting 1 sc in each st until the end of the round. Remember to mark the 4 stitches even after you insert the 1 sc into the st.

Example: In the marked st, insert 1 sc. Then, take your stitch marker and mark the 1 sc that you just did.

Once you’re done inserting 1 sc all around, sl st into the first 1 sc.

Now all you need to do is repeat round 3. Then once you’re done repeating round 3, you will repeat round 4. Basically, you will alternate between round 3 and round 4 until the sleeve reach the height of your objects. I recommend that you stop crocheting when your chain that you make for that round reach the top of your object. This is because we will have to do a few rounds to make the chains stick to your sleeve.

How to make the chains stick to your sleeve:

Your last round before you continue with this step should be Round 4 where you insert 1 sc all around.

Round 1: Ch 2 and turn your work. Insert 1 dc in the same st as the ch 2. Then, continue inserting 1 dc in each st until the end of this round. Make sure that you place every st markers and in this round you will ignore the chains. Finish off with a sl st into the first dc.

Round 2: Ch 1 and turn your work. 2 sc. Then, you will reach your first st marker. Here, you will insert your hook into the middle gap of the chains and make 1 sc in the place you marked.

Continue inserting 1 sc in each st, until you reach the 2nd st marker. Repeat the same step as before for the chains. This is the step that you’re going to do until the end.

Basically in stitch without a stitch marker, you’re going to insert 1 sc. In the stitch with a stitch marker, you’re going to go through the middle of the chain and make 1 sc in the stitch with a stitch marker.

Finish off with a sl st into the first sc.

Flap:

Round 1: Ch 2 and turn your work. Then, continue inserting 1 dc until you reach two stitches next to your 2nd stitch market. This is the timestamp if you’re confused (21:22).

Round 2: Ch 1 and turn your work. Dec, insert 1 dc in each st until you’re left with 2 stitches, dec in the last 2 stitches

Round 3 - 5: Ch 1 and turn your work. 2 dec, insert 1 dc in each st until you’re left with 4 stitches, 2 dec

* If you want the flap longer, you can repeat this until you like how it looks

Round 6: Ch 1 and turn your work. Insert 1 sc all around the flap and the body. Skip the last st and make an invisible join. Timestamp (25:18)

Now all you need to do is add ribbons at the v shape and you’re done!!
