✿Diamond bow bag pattern ✿
Part 1:
Base
Round 1: Ch 17
Round 2-41: Start in the 2nd st, insert 1sc in each st <16>
Round 42: Insert 1sc all around the base, make sure that you insert it through each rows/stitches. At the end you MUST have 112 sts. The number is important because that is what’s going to help you make the diamond pattern. For more detailed instruction, I explained it at (5:07). Once you have done making 112 sts, go ahead and sl st into the first st.

Round 1: Ch3 / make a fake dc (tutorial for the fake dc: 11:33). I recommend that you use the fake dc method as your bag will turned out cleaner than the ch3 method. For those who decided to use the ch3 method, you will skip the first st as your ch3 count as your 1st dc. Then, after you chained 3 or make your fake dc. Continue with this pattern.
2dc, (ch1 & sk, 1dc, ch1 & sk, 6dc, ch1 & sk, 6dc) x 6, ch1 & sk, 1dc, ch1 & sk, 6dc, ch1 & sk, 3dc, sl st <112>
Round 2: (Ch3 / make a fake dc), 1dc, (ch1 & sk, 3dc, ch1 &sk, 11dc) x 6, ch1 & sk, 3dc, ch1 & sk, 9dc, sl st <112>
Round 3: (Ch3 / make a fake dc), (ch1 & sk, 5dc, ch1 & sk, 9dc) x 6, ch1 & sk, 5dc, ch1 & sk, 8dc, sl st <112>
Round 4:
Ch3 method: skip the 1st st, and sl st into the 2nd st. Then, the ch3 is going to act as your 1st dc. So, just continue with the rest of the pattern for R4.
Fake dc method: skip the 1st st, then make a fake dc into the 2nd st.
Now, continue with this pattern.
6dc, (ch1 & sk, 7dc) x 13, ch1 & sk, sl st <112>
Round 5: (Ch3 / make a fake dc), 7dc, (ch1 & sk, 5dc, ch1 & sk, 9dc) x 6, ch1 & sk, 5dc, ch1 & sk, 1dc, sl st <112>
Round 6: (Ch3 / make a fake dc), 8dc, (ch1 & sk, 3dc, ch1 & sk, 11dc) x 6, ch1 & sk, 3dc, ch1 & sk, 2dc, sl st <112>
Round 7: (Ch3 / make a fake dc), 2dc, (ch1 & sk, 6dc, ch1 & sk, 1dc, ch1 & sk, 6dc) x 6, ch1 & sk, 6dc, ch1 & sk, 1dc, ch1 & sk, 3dc, sl st <112>
Round 8: (Ch3 / make a fake dc), 1dc, (ch1 & sk, 1dc, ch1 & sk, 6dc, ch1 & sk, 6dc) x 6, ch1 & sk, 1dc, ch1 & sk, 6dc, ch1 & sk, 4dc, sl st <112>
Round 9: (Ch3 / make a fake dc), 2dc, (ch1 & sk, 6dc, ch1 & sk, 1dc, ch1 & sk, 6dc) x 6, ch1 & sk, 6dc, ch1 & sk, 1dc, ch1 & sk, 3dc, sl st <112>
Round 10: (Ch3 / make a fake dc), 8dc, (ch1 & sk, 3dc, ch1 & sk, 11dc) x 6, ch1 & sk, 3dc, ch1 & sk, 2dc, sl st <112>
Round 11: (Ch3 / make a fake dc), 7dc, (ch1 & sk, 5dc, ch1 & sk, 9dc) x 6, ch1 & sk, 5dc, ch1 & sk, 1dc, sl st <112>
Round 12: (Ch3 / make a fake dc), 6dc, (ch1 & sk, 7dc) x 13, ch1 & sk, sl st <112>
★ Starting from R13 - 18 you will need to skip the 1st stitch and start from the 2nd st. This is because if you see on the chart, what’s supposed to be our 1st stitch is a ch1 and skip. So, we cannot do ch1 and skip as our 1st stitch which is why you need to skip the 1st stitch and start in the 2nd stitch. Later on, you will make up the 1st stitch that skip by chaining 1. For more detailed instruction you can watch the youtube video (53:02).
This is going to be your first step for R13 - 18. So for the first step on each round I will just label it with a ♥︎. Whenever there’s a ♥︎, you will make this step:
Ch3 method: skip the 1st st, and sl st into the 2nd st. Then, the ch3 is going to act as your 1st dc. So, just continue with the rest of the pattern for R13.
Fake dc method: skip the 1st st, then make a fake dc into the 2nd st.
Round 13:
Start with the ♥︎. Then, continue with this pattern:
4dc, (Ch3 method: skip the 1st st, and sl st into the 2nd st. Then, the ch3 is going to act as your 1st dc. So, just continue with the rest of the pattern for R4.
Fake dc method: skip the 1st st, then make a fake dc into the 2nd st.
Now, continue with this pattern.
6dc, (ch1 & sk, 9dc, ch1 & sk, 5dc) x 6, ch1 & sk, 9dc, ch1 & sk, sl st <112>
Round 14:
Start with the ♥︎. Then, continue with this pattern:
2dc, (ch1 & sk, 11dc, ch1 & sk, 3dc) x 6, ch1 & sk, 11dc, ch1 & sk, sl st <112>
Round 15:
Start with the ♥︎. Then, continue with this pattern:
(ch1 & sk, 6dc, ch1 & sk, 6dc, ch1 & sk, 1dc) x 6, (ch1 & sk, 6dc) x 2, ch1 & sk, sl st <112>
Round 16:
Start with the ♥︎. Then, continue with this pattern:
5dc, (ch1 & sk, 1dc, ch1 & sk, 6dc, ch1 & sk, 6dc) x 6, ch1 & sk, 1dc, ch1 & sk, 6dc, ch1 & sk, sl st <112>
Round 17:
Start with the ♥︎. Then, continue with this pattern:
5dc, (ch1 & sk, 6dc, ch1 & sk, 1dc, ch1 & sk, 6dc) x 6, ch1 & sk, 6dc, ch1 & sk, 1dc, ch1 & sk, sl st <112>
Round 18:
Start with the ♥︎. Then, continue with this pattern:
10dc, (ch1 & sk, 3dc, ch1 & sk, 11dc) x 6, ch1 & sk, 3dc, ch1 & sk, sl st <112>
Then, to fasten off. Ch1 and cut your yarn.
Part 2:
You need to identify which one will be your left side strap. This is really important since we are making a bag with a pattern so the pattern won’t be the same for each side. First, you have to know which one is the front and the back of your bag. The front will have 3 diamond shapes and the back will have 4 diamond shapes. Mark the stitches for the curved design strap on both sides with stitch markers. There is a specific place you need to mark it since you need to follow the pattern of this bag to create the diamond pattern. You will need to refer this part of the video (1:12:15).
Left side strap
Now, with the front side facing you (the one that have 3 diamond shapes). You will start working on the left side strap.
Round 19: Start in the stitch marker for the left side.
(Ch3 / make a fake dc), 5dc, (ch1 & sk, 5dc, ch1 & sk, 9dc) x 2, ch1 & sk, 6dc <45>
You should stop at the stitch marker on the back side. You will not work any stitches at the middle of the bag as that will help create an opening for your bag.
Round 20: Dc2tog, 5dc, (ch1 & sk, 7dc) x 4, ch1 & sk, 3dc, Dc2tog <43>
Round 21: Dc2tog x 2, (9dc, ch1 & sk, 5dc, ch1 & sk) x 2, 3dc, Dc2tog x 2 <39>
Round 22: Dc2tog, 4dc, ch1 & sk, 3dc, ch1 & sk, 11dc, ch1 & sk, 3dc, ch1 & sk, 10dc, Dc2tog <37>
Round 23: Dc2tog x 2, 1dc, ch1 & sk, 6dc, ch1 & sk, 1dc, ch1 & sk, 6dc, ch1 & sk, 6dc, ch1 & sk, 1dc, ch1 & sk, 2dc, Dc2tog x 2 <33>
Round 24: Dc2tog, 3dc, ch1 & sk, 6dc, ch1 & sk, 1dc, ch1 & sk, 6dc, ch1 & sk, 6dc, ch1 & sk, 1dc, ch1 & sk, Dc2tog <31>
Round 25: Dc2tog x 2, 5dc, ch1 & sk, 1dc, ch1 & sk, 6dc, ch1 & sk, 6dc, ch1 & sk, 1dc, Dc2tog x 2 <27>
Round 26: Dc2tog, 2dc, ch1 & sk, 11dc, ch1 & sk, 3dc, ch1 & sk, 4dc, Dc2tog <25>
Round 27: Dc2tog x 2, ch1 & sk, 5dc, ch1 & sk, 9dc, ch1 & sk, Dc2tog x 2 <21>
Round 28: Dc2tog, 1dc, ch1 & sk, 7dc, ch1 & sk, 7dc, Dc2tog <19>
Round 29: Dc2tog x 2, 5dc, ch1 & sk, 5dc, Dc2tog x 2 <15>
Round 30: Dc2tog, ch1 & sk, 3dc, ch1 & sk, 6dc, Dc2tog <13>
You will stop making any Dc2tog. Now you will just keep making the pattern to lengthen the strap. You can make the strap longer than I did (I only did until R49) but you will have to figure out the diamond pattern yourself using the diamond chart pattern pdf that I gave you at the top (Link to download the chart for R1 - 18).

Then, to fasten off. Ch1 and cut your yarn.
Right side strap
Now, with the back side facing you (the one that have 4 diamond shapes). You will start working on the right side strap. The step is the same as the left side just that there’s a different in the pattern.
Round 19: Start in the stitch marker for the right side.
(Ch3 / make a fake dc), 3dc, (ch1 & sk, 9dc, ch1 & sk, 5dc) x 2, ch1 & sk, 8dc <45>

Then, to fasten off. Ch1 and cut your yarn. Leave a long end for sewing.
Next, you need to line up the edges of the strap together making sure each stitches is facing each other. Then, sew it together. For reference you can go this timestamp in the part 2 vide (39:44).
Weave in any remaining yarn and you’re done!!
